State leaders of the Federation of Andhra Pradesh Teachers Organisations (FAPTO) are calling for the immediate revocation of the suspension of S. Suresh, the federation's Tirupati district chairman.
In a statement issued Saturday, FAPTO State Chairman I. Sai Srinivas and Secretary General S. Chiranjeevi accused the Chittoor District Education Officer (DEO) of harassing teachers and causing them distress during the recent transfer process. They allege that while DEOs in all other districts followed the guidelines from the School Education Department, the Chittoor DEO acted in violation of these orders.
The FAPTO leaders stated that they had previously brought these issues to the attention of the relevant authorities, but no action was taken against the DEO. They claim that Mr. Suresh was suspended as a direct result of questioning the alleged harassment.
In response, the federation has issued two key demands:
-
An official inquiry into the Chittoor DEO's violations of transfer and promotion norms, followed by disciplinary action.
-
The immediate revocation of the suspension order against their leader, S. Suresh.
